LA TRADIZIONE DELL'ARTIGIANATO
In the Oltrarno district, next to the fourteenth-century tower-house of the noble Sapiti family, in a workshop with ribbed ceilings, carved corbels in pietra serena and exposed stone walls, with a door and wooden closing strips, like those used in medieval workshops, Paolo Pagliai works as a silversmith and restorer.
The Pagliai's have always carried out their activity in Oltrarno: at the beginning, with Paolo's father, Orlando, since 1930 in Costa San Giorgio, then in Piazza De' Rossi, and, since 1980, in the medieval part of Borgo S. Jacopo, in an area that has kept intact the charm and the characteristics of the past.
In the first room of the workshop it is possible to buy silverware of own production, sheffield and vintage silverware, carefully selected by the Pagliai family; it is also possible to open an original wedding list choosing between cutlery and various objects or it is also possible to have unique pieces made starting from a simple drawing or model.
In the back of the workshop is the laboratory where Maestro Paolo Pagliai and his collaborators execute to perfection objects of their own production or restore silverware, even antique, or silver-plated metal objects, respecting their integrity and peculiar characteristics; he handcrafts missing parts of objects, reproduces cutlery no longer on the market and can personalize silver and silver-plated metal objects with engravings made by hand using burin.
Paolo Pagliai's workshop is a point of reference for antique dealers, collectors and loyal customers from all over Italy in an atmosphere of sympathy and warm welcome that make this workshop unique and irreplaceable.
