After graduating from the State Art Institute of Anghiari for the art of wood and restoration of antique furniture, Santi Del Sere, a craftsman since 1989, has created one of the most lively and qualified workshops in the Alta Valle del Tevere. MastroSanti carries out his eclectic work mainly dealing with the creation of furniture taken from ancient representations and designed with personal interpretation in his workshop, from where admire one of the most captivating visions of the medieval historical centre of Anghiari.
Sensitive restorer of antique furniture and absolute master of marquetry and carving techniques, he find new and personal paths of artistic research that take the form of original applications of techniques with an antique flavour and modern expressive concepts.
Among his most recent experiences, MastroSanti deals with themes that have become topical again, such as that of the Trompe L’Oeil, bringing perspective and figurative representations to everyday objects, re-proposing the ancient relationship between the Minor and Major Arts, and therefore between the Master carvers of the 15th century and the great artists of their time.
MastroSanti is one of the rare examples of how artistic craftsmanship can not only be the passive reproduction of works and ideas from the past but that, starting from these, we can arrive at our own artistic and productive identity fully and concretely placed in the present”.
