LA TRADIZIONE DELL'ARTIGIANATO
Mauro Tacconi is the son of the well-known Florentine Mosaic Master, Marco Tacconi. He was born in Grassina, a town on the outskirts of Florence.
He has his initial approach to Mosaic in early childhood, during which he used to spend a lot of time in his father's workshop.
Having always had a great passion for drawing and painting and passionate about this complex and fascinating Art, in 1982 he began what will be until today his great love: the Florentine Mosaic, an ancient Florentine art known all over the world.
During his first years he learns to saw stones with a wooden and emery bow that, still today, is the best tool to cut stones. He learns and experiments with all the other techniques that make it possible to complete a work. At the same time he never abandons drawing, studying the great masters.
In 1984 he made his first work in Mosaic, inaugurating his future artistic career.
He focuses a lot on the work, trying to innovate the classical tradition of Mosaic, he works on his own designs and also engages in experimenting with new techniques, including jewelry making.
Over the years he creates magnificent works, unique and exclusive for world famous people and exhibits in prestigious national and international galleries and museums.
With this technique, works of high value and variety can be created: paintings, table tops, commission of custom work.
Recognizing that this is not a simple craft, one can detect what admirable Art we are talking about, an Art that, weirdly, is in danger of disappearing.
