LA TRADIZIONE DELL'ARTIGIANATO
Cesare and Iolanda Mazzetti are heirs to a long family tradition in copper working.
The progenitor of the Montepulciano copperworks is Cesare's grandfather, who began beating copper in the late 1800s.
He molded cauldrons, buying raw material from a foundry in Gran Sasso, bought, in Barga in the province of Lucca, pottery to be refined in copper and Florentine oil lamps in Florence. Products, these, that Cesare's grandmother began to sell in markets in neighboring towns.
In 1903, Cesare's father is sent to learn the "di fino" work from Master Copperworker "Ghiotto," where he learns the art with passion and makes artistic jugs, pots, pans, crockery and dishes.
The Renowned Rameria Mazzetti was founded and a branch was opened in Chianciano.
Upon the master's death, his father purchased all the tools - punches, anvils, forges, lathes - dating back to 1857, which Cesare jealously guards today.
Then followed years of crisis, in which the copperworks slowed production.
Cesare and his brother Bernardo, born in 1936 and 1930 respectively, are introduced to the family business. After returning from military service, Caesar opens a small plumbing business, continuing, however, to help his father in the copperworks, whose fame continues to grow.
Caesar decided to return to copper-beating permanently, thanks to his father's advice and his strong propensity for the beauty of creating, shaping and chiseling.
Beginning in 1982, together with his wife Iolanda, he successfully opened a small Bottega del Rame (Copper Shop) for the production of the highest quality handcrafted products, appreciated by Italian customers and tourists as well.
